Does WhisperPad work on my Mac?

WhisperPad requires an Apple Silicon Mac (any M1, M2, M3, or M4 chip) and macOS 13.5 or newer. Intel Macs aren't supported — WhisperPad runs the Whisper transcription model on Apple's Neural Engine, a dedicated machine-learning chip that's only present on Apple Silicon. On an Intel Mac, transcription would fall back to CPU-only inference, which is too slow for real-time dictation.

Not sure which chip your Mac has? Click the Apple menu → About This Mac. If you see Chip: Apple M1 (or M2, M3, M4), you're good. If you see Processor: Intel Core..., WhisperPad won't run on this machine.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Open System Settings → [your name] → Media & Purchases → Subscriptions. Find WhisperPad and cancel from there. You'll keep access through the end of your current billing period.

How do I get a refund?

Subscription and purchase refunds for WhisperPad are handled by Apple directly. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, find the WhisperPad transaction, and submit a refund request.

How does the transcription work?

After you stop recording, WhisperPad copies the transcribed text to your clipboard. Press Cmd-V to paste it into any app where you want the text.

My transcription isn't working — what should I check?

  1. Confirm WhisperPad has Microphone permission (System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone)
  2. Check that a Whisper model has finished downloading (visible in the WhisperPad menu bar popover)
  3. Try switching to a smaller model size in Settings if your Mac has less than 16GB of RAM
  4. Restart WhisperPad

Voice transcription is slow on my Mac. Can I make it faster?

Switch to the Small model in Settings. It's faster than Medium and works well for everyday dictation. The Large v3 model is the most accurate but works best on Apple Silicon Macs with 16GB+ RAM.
