Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 22, 2026
WhisperPad ("the app") is a macOS voice-to-text application developed by MITM LLC. This policy explains what data the app handles and how it is handled.
WhisperPad does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on any server we control. All voice recording and transcription happens entirely on your Mac. No audio, transcripts, settings, or usage information ever leaves your device.
What happens on your device
- Microphone audio. When you start a recording, the app captures audio from your Mac's microphone and writes it to a temporary file on your local disk. The file is used only for transcription and is overwritten on the next recording.
- Transcribed text. Your dictated text is produced locally by an on-device Whisper speech recognition model. The most recent transcript is cached on your Mac so you can copy it again from the menu bar. It never leaves your Mac.
- App settings and usage counters. Your preferences (model choice, language, transcription mode, etc.) and your monthly minutes-used counter are stored locally on your Mac in standard macOS user preferences. They never leave your Mac.
Network connections
WhisperPad connects to the internet in only three situations:
- Model download. The first time you select a Whisper model size, the app downloads the model file from Hugging Face, the standard distribution host for open machine learning models. No personal data is transmitted during this download, beyond the normal network metadata any HTTPS download involves.
- License validation (direct version only). The direct-download version of WhisperPad contacts Paddle's license verification servers once per day to confirm your license remains valid. Only the license key is transmitted.
- In-app purchases (App Store version only). Subscription and purchase transactions are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. Apple's privacy policy governs that flow.
No other network connections are made. No analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, no ads, no tracking of any kind.
Microphone and Accessibility permissions
WhisperPad requests two macOS permissions:
- Microphone access is required to record the audio you dictate. Audio is processed locally and never transmitted.
- Accessibility access (direct version only) is required to paste or type transcribed text into the app you are currently using. Accessibility access is used only to deliver dictated text to the focused field.
Children
WhisperPad is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from anyone.
